There are methods to develop your creativity, generate initial ideas for stories and test them to be sure they are worth to develop in a feature length film. This pre-writing workshop will help you to strengthen your ideas through theory and very concrete practical exercises.

Mandag 2. desember - Fredag 6. desember
Filmens hus, 8. etg.

Target group: Directors, screenwriters, producers

Less is more (LIM) is open for max. 12 filmmakers with a first, second or third feature project. Filmmakers who have already made their 1st feature films and are working on their 2nd or 3rd feature will be prioritized.

”The enemy of art is the absence of limitations”

Orson Welles

12 participants  (writers, directors and producers) will tackle initial ideas, reinforcing them to become strong future feature projects before entering long-run development process. Intellectual flexibility is key to explore the possibilities generated with "pre-writing techniques". The aim of the workshop is to help the participants get into research mode, explore and generate new ideas and play with the possibilities of the starting point.

The aim is not about getting feedback on a project already written.

Two international script consultants from LIM/Le Groupe Ouest will run the workshop during 5 days.

In addition, an open session/Masterclass will be organized on Monday December 2nd 18-20 PM to showcase how budget constraints can trigger creativity when you introduce them early enough.

More info about the Masterclass coming soon!

To apply for the workshop: e-mail CV, motivation letter and max one-page idea outline (optional) of a current project to Rune Tellefsen in English.
Deadline 15.10

This pre-writing workshop will function as the local Norwegian event before the call for LIM 2020, please see below.

Please note that the working language of the workshop will be English.

Selected regional participants (outside of Oslo-area) may be eligible to apply for travel support. More information after selection.

About LIM:

LIM offers a new generation of filmmakers, already known either for their short films or first features, the opportunity of designing a strong route into limited budget feature film production.

The scheme (see LIM 2020) is open to 1st, 2nd and 3rd feature film projects, as well as to artists coming from strong theatre, documentary or visual arts backgrounds. Twelve emerging European professionals (producers, script consultant, curator, distributor, etc.) wanting to strengthen their ability to develop projects within a low to micro budget frame are coached in parallel and integrate the process.

LIM does not define limited budgets in accounting terms, as such conditions vary from country to country. LIM approach is resolutely both conceptual and pragmatic: use limitation as a strength!

Selected Norwegian filmmakers for LIM 2020 will be eligible to apply for stipend. More information here.
